Nepal has been awarded the AFC U-14 Girls´ Regional Championship 2015 South and Central Region, scheduled for April 20-25.
According to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) sent a letter confirming Nepal as the tournament host.
AFC Women´s Competitions Manager Jessie Dai Shengying was in Kathmandu for venue inspection on November 24-25, according to ANFA. Nepal won the right to host the event beating competition from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Seven teams -- India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Maldives, Bhutan and host Nepal -- will participate in the championship. The teams will be divided into two groups -- four teams in one group and three teams in another -- and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, according to AFC.
ANFA has proposed Army Physical Fitness Stadium and APF Stadium as the match venues. Likewise, the artificial turf at ANFA Complex, Army Physical Training Field, Buddhi Bikas Ground and ANFA Technical Center have been proposed for training facilities.
ANFA Competitions head Narendra Shrestha said the association is pleased to win the bid and is eager to host the competition in a grand manner.
"We will ready the venues in the given time. The championship will help popularize the game among girls, which will eventually help in the development of the game," ANFA quoted his as saying.
Nepal won the previous edition of the championship in Sri Lanka last year under late coach Sher Bahadur Darlami.
