Women's League: Army net 14 against Far-western

Nepal Army thrashed Far-western Region 14-0 on the fourth day of the Western Union Women's League at Chitwan on Thursday.

Deepa Nupane alone scored eight goals for the winning team, with goals coming in the 30th, 46th, 49th, 55th, 57th, 60th, 79 and 80th minutes. Anjali Waiba had opened the scoring for Army in the 29th minute. Bhujuba Rai (53', 57') and Inidra Rai (63', 67') were also on the score-sheet for Army. Susmit Dawadi scored an own goal.

Women's League: Police edge Central region

Nepal Police beat Central Region team beat Central Region Team 1-0 on the third day of the Western Union Women's League at Narayanghat in Chitwan on Wednesday.

A goal from Yasodha Lama gave Nepal Police all three points needed to top Group A with six points. Nepal Police had beaten Mid-western 6-0 in the opening day of the championship on Monday. Central are second with three points they collected from a win against Eastern.

A total of eight teams, including, Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Nepal Armed Police, Eastern, Central, Western, Mid-western and Far-western, are competing in the championship.

The eight teams have been divided into two groups with four teams in each group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The tournament will follow the league-cum-knock-out format.

The winning team will get Rs 200,000 (2 lakh), while the runner-up will receive 100,000 (1 Lakh). There are also individual awards for best forward, best mid-fielder, best goalkeeper, best coach and best defender. The winner of each category will get Rs 25,000.

Eastern Region routed Mid-Western region 5-0 on the third day of the Western Union Women's League being held in Narayanghat, Chitwan, on Wednesday.

Saru Subba scored a brace, with the goals coming in the 17th and the 53rd minutes. Samrachana Pradhan, Muna Rai and Koplia Neupane were also in the score-sheet for the winning team.

With this win, Eastern region bagged their first three points in the group. Nepal Police are at the top of group A with six points.

Nepal Army beat Western Region Football Club 2-0 on the second day of the Western Union Women's Football League in Chitwan on Tuesday.

Botht the goals for Army came in the second half through Kabita Dhimal in 51st minute and Anjali Waiba in the 66th minute. In the second match of the day, APF hammered Far-western region team 10-0.

Sajana Rana scored a hat-trick with the goals coming in the 12th, 24th and 29th minutes. Renuka Nagarkoti scored a brace in the 32nd and 35th minutes, Sabita Bhandari also scored a brace in the 84th and 88th minutes, Anita Basnet and Sapana Rai also got in the score-sheet scoring in the 35th and 79th minutes respectively. Sima Chaudhary had an own goal in the 18th minute.

Women's League: Nepal Police, Central make winning start

Nepal Police Club hammered Mid-western 6-0 as the Western Union Women's Football League kicked off at Narayanghat, Kampachaur, Chitwan, on Monday.

Niru Thapa starred in the match scoring a hat-trick in the second half with goals coming in the 50th, 56th and 68th minutes.

Rupa Magar had opened the scoring of the one-sided match in the 15th minute. Sapana Thebe added another in the half-hour mark, while Rina Gurbacharya made it 3-0 in the 37th minute.

In the second match of the day, Central beat Eastern 2-1. Kabita Sundas had put Eastern in the front seat in the 22nd minute, but the second completely belonged to Central as Nirmala Khuswas cancelled the lead scoring in the 61st minute and Nirmala K.C sealed the win in the 62nd minute

Earlier, ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, who is also a CA member and the vice president of the Asian Football Confederation, inaugurated the tournament. Thapa received grand welcome by the Chitwan District Football Association.

Thapa was accompanied by ANFA officials – first vice president Lalit Krishna Shrestha, ANFA general secretary Dhirendra Pradhan, ANFA CEO Indra Man Tuladhar and ANFA Women's Committee President Kalpana Piya Shrestha.
