Swedish national Johan Kalin has been appointed head coach of NMB Bank Machhindra FC.

MFCSwedish national Johan Kalin has been appointed head coach of NMB Bank Machhindra FC.

Kalin is a UEFA ‘A’ Licensed coach and an Instructor for UEFA ‘B’ courses. He will most likely be the highest certified coach in the Martyr’s League ‘A’ Division.

Kalin has been working fulltime for the Swedish Football Federation and Norbottens Football Federation since 2008. Most recently he served as the football education coordinator in Norbottens, one of 24 districts that come under the Swedish Football Federation. At the same time he was also was the head coach of Swedish 3rd division club Notvikens IK.

Kalin is familiar with South Asian football. He attended the 2011 SAFF Cup tournament in Delhi and observed several Nepal National Football Team training sessions. He also spent several weeks in 2011 observing the training of Indian 2nd division side Simla Youngs and in 2012 I-League side Sporting Clube de Goa.

Kalin has also spent time observing the Borussia Monchengladbach (Germany) and Miramar Missiones (Uruguay) youth academies.

Kalin is on an initial 6-month contract with the option to renew at the end of the season. Financial details of Kalin’s contract will remain private.
