Nawayug Shrestha brace takes Nepal Army above New Road Team on head-to-head
Nepal Army and New Road Team faced today in what was a title aspired challengers duel, the game remained to its expectation. Nepal Army’s physical presence was seen from the start as they started to stamp their authority in the game. NRT seemed to be chasing the Nepal Army’s shadow. Two goal hero Nawayug Shrestha netted his first in 32nd minute when he met a low cross from the right wing by Tanka Basnet. He slotted is past the goalkeeper into the back of the net to the delight of hundreds of Army supporters.
Nawayug Shrestha added his second in the 50th minute when the defensive lapse made him open goal and he didn’t missed it from 6 yards. Army men were taking charge of the game. But out of nowhere Segun A Eyitayo returned a goal back when he converted from the penalty spot after the foul by Army defence. The game didn’t give enough of clear opportunity in the later part.
Nepal Army Assistant Coach BabuKaji Dhaubanjar:
“Our boys put in a lot of effort. We desperately needed a win at this stage and came back with all three points. Our next games with RCT and Three Star would tell us where we will stand in the table.”
NRT Coach Deken Suwal:
“The refereeing standard was poor today as he gave cards recklessly. Picking up 10 yellow cards in a league season is Rs 10,000 fine and we would like to stay from it. Our defensive lapse gave the army men the chance to score. We lost a must win game. And, our title aims are now in tatters.”
