Pukar Gahatraj’s brace helps Hongkong Team upset NPC
Assembled team with the likes of Nepalese skipper Sagar Thapa along with Bikash Kuthu and few other African recruits got the better of departmental team and three time champion Nepal Police Club 2-1.
NPC got the better start as Yogesh Shrestha hit the woodwork in the 10th minute of the match. But it was Honkong Nepali Federation who took the lead early in the 13th minute of the match as Pukar Gahatraj scored an easy tap-in courtesy of a cross from African recruit Dodoz. NPC again were unfortunate as their skipper Jumanu Rai hit the woodwork much to the dismay of NPC players and supporters in the 23rd minute of the match.
The second half brought the much needed vigour in the NPC players as they launched attack after attack. But Hongkong Nepali Federation players were quite successful in handling NPC’s attack until 63rd minute of the match. Parbet Pandey pulled the equalizer courtesy of a penalty awarded. Hongkong Nepali Federation got back into action as they hit the winning goal in the 72nd minute of the match. Pukar Gahatraj was again in the scoresheet as he marched his team in the semi final with a brace.
